Arlington County Government, Arlington, Virginia
USmax provides ongoing network engineering and consulting services
to Arlington County Government's Department of Technology Services.
USmax assists in the support of a 5000-node network which serves,
among other facets of the Arlington County Government, the Arlington
County Police Department, Arlington County Court System, Treasury
Department, Public Library System, and Department of Human Services.
Areas of support include systems support, workstation relocations
and reconfigurations, computer support, network security, virus
protection, and network backup.
USmax was originally responsible for the design and implementation
of clustered server environments and provided mainframe connectivity
support and security for the various factions of the Arlington County
Government. Over time, involvement with the Arlington County Government's
Department of Technology Services has grown to encompass network
design and implementation.
Of special significance to USmax was the opportunity to contribute
to the recovery efforts at the Pentagon after the September 11,
2001 tragedy. In partnership with Veridian, USmax assisted in the
construction of a wireless network communications bridge immediately
following the terrorist attack that allowed seamless communication
between the Arlington County's Emergency Management System's computer
network (Police, Fire, Ambulance, and 911) and an Arlington County
remote mobile command center (located in the Pentagon parking lot's
emergency staging area). Consequentially, USmax Corporation with
its team partners received Arlington County Government's distinguished
TECHNOLOGY SOLUTIONS AWARD for "Emergency Operations - Fixed
Wireless Implementation" from the Arlington County Manager's
office.
